1997 Playboy “Chromium Covers Edition 3” featured 24 packs of 6 cards, 12 boxes per case and a print run of 500 cases. Refractors could be pulled, and 12 celebrity cards were included as a redemption subset. The biggest chase cards were the autographed cards, numbered to 600, these included the Barbi Twins, Pam Anderson, Burt Reynolds, Cathy St. George, Debbie Boostrom, Karla Conway and Lisa Baker.
In 1979, Burt Reynolds was at the height of his fame as Hollywood's top box-office star. His professional and personal highlights for that year included Reynolds gracing the cover of Playboy's October 1979 issue alongside a Playmate (often identified as Gig Gangel or Dorothy Mays depending on the feature, but he was the main cover star with the month's Playmate), capitalizing on his massive box-office success; the issue highlighted him as a major star with his own centerfold and became a significant collectible, often sought signed by Reynolds himself, solidifying his status as a pop culture icon. He remained a fixture in the press, appearing on the cover of the October 1979 issue of Playboy (only the second man to ever grace the cover) and several 1979 issues of US Magazine.
The 1995 Playboy Chromium Cover Cards (Edition 1), a non-sport trading card set, featured famous Playboy covers, with 25 cards in the base set, covering issues from 1954 to late 1994/early 1995, including models like Julie Lynn Cialini (Playmate of the Year 1995) and features from various decades. This card scored a GEM MT 10, and is signed and numbered /600 by Karla Conway herself!
Karla Jo Musacchia was raised in Malibu and graduated from Canoga Park High School. An avid surfer, Karla was discovered by Playboy on the beach in Malibu in 1965, and appeared as a dancer in the promo video for “Sea Cruise” by the Hondells. She returned to California and acted in a small part in the car race movie “Fireball 500,” and played Connie in the science fiction comedy “Space Thing.” She was pictured in “Best for Men” magazine in a 1968 pictorial. She moved to Denver, and worked as a Bunny at the Playboy Club in Aspen, and also worked as a Bunny at Playboy Clubs in Denver, Jamaica and Los Angeles. Karla is now an artist and uses the name Sachi. Her artwork includes a sculpture of Hugh Hefner and paintings of rock stars.
