“StarQuest,” a popular Upper Deck insert, first appeared in 1998 Collector’s Choice sealed boxes. The big differentiator for these inserts during this era, is that UD used colors (instead of printing effects) to signal rarity through the sets.

The 90’s cards were randomly-inserted, and the 30-card set featured a color-action photo on a colorful background. These foil parallel versions were produced with insertion rates of 1:8 for Green (2 stars), and 1:23 for the Red (3 stars) parallel. The Blue (base) was offered more commonly (2:1 rate for 1 stars), and only 100 Gold sets were printed, and these numbered cards are incredibly rare.
