Space Jam is a 1996 sports film starring Michael Jordan who is brought ouf of retirement by the Looney Tunes characters to help them win a basketball match against invading aliens. Produced by Warner Bros., the film received mixed reviews from critics, who were divided over its’ premise of combining Jordan with the live-action characters. It would turn out to be a commercial success, grossing $250+ million worldwide, boasting the 10th-highest-grossing film of 1996. A standalone sequel would be released in 2021 with LeBron James in the lead role. However, the sequel received generally negative reviews and massively failed to match the commercial success of the original.
